That british guy, one of the judges on American Idol, where they make one amateur, talented singer a recording artist, I never thought I'd admit it, but I love the show, especially Simon. he's the brutally honest british judge, that the public loves. Anyway, after listening to one of the female singers last night, he actually complimented her on the performance and went on to say, she should replace that "Dixie Chick" it was great. Apparently the tides are turning, he's a tv personality and I'm sure the other 2(one of whom's Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson, no relation to Michael) are liberals, but he drew laughs and applause for his rather conservative remark! Love it!

I think most of those singers are awful, but that Simon guy knows what works and he is designed to keep the show entertaining. he is the producer of the show..ALSO...it's so weird, but he'll give a singer a compliment on their voice and style, but tell them they are not American Idol material and that they should be singing on a cruise ship or something and they get insulted.
That's no insult. That's a legit show biz job and those cruise ship singers make good money an have a blast with the opposite sex.
I know some singers who have worked cruise ships.
It aint rock and roll, but it's no shame. |

Oh I think it's the way he says it, he makes it sound second rate.
Hey! There's a marine who made it to the finals, and now may be called to duty!
He'll be famous for that, even if he doesn't get to go the distance. Simon was particularly nice to him. Personally, he's a good singer, but I don't think he's the best. That would be a very meek looking guy, Clay something, he's not the best looking(big ears) but he is just so dynamic, I'm rooting for him. |

Forgive me, but I am totally obsessed with this show. There's not much I feel compelled to watch on TV, except this show. I even started calling in to vote. You know, I need help, I usually would laugh at people who did that kind of thing.
They're down to the final 2 contestants, and the guy I've been rooting for all along, Clay Aiken, is one of them. He's very thin, has big ears, but what a voice, and he's been working on his appearance, hair, clothes, he looks better. The other guy is Ruben, better known as Ruuuuuuuben! He's a very heavy(the fat police are after him) but no matter, he has a Luther Vandross type voice, does very well with the old Mowtown type music that he's been singing. Both have a huge fan base now, I give Clay a slight nod, because I think he has a wider range(hee hee, I sound like an expert now!) OK, OK, I know if you haven't watched the show, you're thinking what the hell is she talking about? Watch it Tuesday night, you'll see, I'm "Aiken for Clay"
I think Simon Colwell is going to endorse Ruben however, a big plus for him. |

Hi Cheryl,
Hey, if you're enjoying a show (and even calling into vote) nothing wrong with that.
And I guess, I'm missing something by not watching...I only saw a few minutes of it here and there while channel surfing. Guess I should give it a try, even at this late stage. I have seen that judge, Simon on some talk shows.
And the women on the View talk about this show just about every day. I haven't been a Survivor, or Bachelorette show follower, either. |

Thanks Anne. I do find it amusing though, I laugh at others for being "drawn in" and now I'm "calling in" to vote. I don't watch the others you mentioned, well, I did watch the first Survivor.
A few people at work mentioned "American Idol", I was flipping channels one night, and the rest is history. It's on Tues. & Weds. early evening, I 'm usually home weeknights. I like one thing in particular, they are talented, this is no beauty contest, they had a couple of good looking women early on, but they weren't nearly as talented and they're gone.
It'll all be over next week.
If you want to vote for my cute, nerdy Clay, the # is 1-866-IDOLS....I'm kidding! No, really, just kidding......the last 2 numbers depend on whether Clay goes first(then you'd dial 01) or second 02 |

Hi Cheryl,
I'll vote for your guy...just tell me when to call. Is it during the show, or anytime?
And don't be I heard Bill Handel asking his crew who was watching it. I think Michelle said she liked someone named Rueben.
At any rate...let me know when I should do this calling. I'm sure if you think he's talented and should win, I would agree with you.

Hi Cheryl,
Yes, I saw the eclipse...rather disappointing from where I viewed it. I didn't see the moon turn red or any other color. But I saw the gray "shadow" of the Earth.
Change of pace, and got me and the neighbors outside to visit on a nice night.

Sorry you didn't have a better view, but it sounds like you got a chance to visit with the Sherman Oaks locals.
I'm sorry I missed it, of course I never miss Survivor or Big Brother or Anna Nichol, they are the highlights of my life, I can hardly wait til I get home at the end of the day, I run to MTV and hope upon hope that there will be some repeats. Those Big Brother guys are just the best! If I had my way, I'd never leave. I have one of those compact overheads above the shower, just so I don't miss anything! |

LMAO omg Cheryl
that's too funny....well geez...I guess I'm the same way about NOT missing J and K...I have to take my little transistor into the grocery store just so I don't miss too much.
Dammit, I missed part of the first hour today. In some stores I can't pick up the reception as well.
(lends Cheryl her little TV that I've never used in the car with the cig lighter connection) |

If anybody's here, watch channel 11 right now, it's Ruben, then Clay. He will sing "Bridge over Troubled Waters", hee hee, I looked in the American Idol Chat Room!!
It's almost over, then I'll go through withdrawls, then it's over, so everybody: 1-866-IDOLS02
OK! Now watch!!!!! You guys gotta hear my nerdy Clay sing! |

Hi Cheryl,
Ok, I put it on at 8 just for YOU....first time I've listened to 4 whole songs.
I have only one thing to say..for now..those "Gospel Singers"...they could make the "Greenlight Financial" jingle sound good.

Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind....

Can't wait for his C.D.

Hi Cheryl,
Maybe if you sent Mr Kabc some real pics and the Cool Whip thing, he'll create a nice Greenlight Financial Singer avatar for you.
He did a great job on mine.

I looked up the Green Light Financial website, unfortunately, their singers weren't featured on their website, nor do they accept fan mail, sorry...
My guess is they will get the same treatment the "Everybody dance now" backup singer or the REAL Milli Vanilli singers got - their music is famous but the people themselves are doomed to obscurity...
There *is* a comment on the Green Light Financial website referring to an upcoming album titled "You've got the Green Light" but no release date was mentioned.
I for one can't wait for the MUZAK version, to be played in elevators everywhere! |

Oh good lord, a greenlight CD?!? I'll put that on Christmas list.
Today is the day, we find out! Ruben or Clay.
Hee hee, I KNOW WHO WON, I went to the American Idol Chat Room. What a bunch of foul mouthed, immature little brats. There were a few signs of intelligent life, and since they are 3 hours ahead, they announced the winner......should I tell you?
I know the guys don't car, but Anne, should I reveal the winner?
Ok, I'm sure Don's losing patience with this American Idol thing, hee hee, but it's almost over! OH MY GOD, what do I do with my Tuesday evenings now? |

DRUMROLL PLEASE............and the winner is.............
RUUUUUUUBEN!!!!!
That's right my guy lost
However, a VIP from the recording industry just announced he has already started recording both Clay and Ruben and that both would have a career.
So, I'm happy and will now stop, til the next one! Oh just kidding! This is the final show! no, really |
