| Ok, it's upgraded, fixing a couple of graphics items but let me know if anything hasn't been moved over. |

It was totally gone a minute ago.
Came up as "no such URL" on E-Link, which seems to be having their own problems today.
Have fun!
HA! I was just thinking last night if there was a new upgrade available. |

Yeah, just did it. Found I could do it fast enough that I figured noone would notice, guess you picked the exact right time to come on. |

Hey Magicat,
Is that security problem due to the Road Runner/AOL poster? |

You mean the thing that they're discussing on the phpbb.com board? No, the problem they were having is that they were blocking roadrunner and aol users because there was one who was just abusing the board by spamming it.
This is supposedly one that would basically cause the board to crash making it unusable without a lot of work. |

Ahhh...I see now, thank you. I skipped one of your posts......above, sorry.
Yes, I was referring to the phpbb discussion. I was reading that about an hour ago...I probably should have visited there before now, might have learned something |

Yeah, but the nice thing about things that are well made like this is being able to use things without having to learn everything about them.
Like a car, nice to be able to drive without having to know how to take apart the engine (preemptive, since I know Mr KABC would be saying something about my lack of a car gene.) |

How true....but then again..I've always been a system "user"...never a programmer nor an analyst (dammit who knew back then? I had an IBM Selectric...still do in my garage, never thought i needed to know "word processing" and declined going to a Wang training session. What a career mistake)
Computers were those 5 foot high things that gave us "batches" and dump lists, and alpha listings on paper that we could read and write on the paper)
But I did love those Computer Rooms...always nice and cool and I kinda liked the quirky, intellectual guys (now affectionately known as geeks)
They took me to Happy Hours and we actually discussed work for hours until the traffic died down in the city and I could zip home quickly. The closest I ever got; career-wise was "liason" between users/programmers.
So, when our company got purchased by a big bank, I got chosen to go along. It was way over my head, but I smiled and answered the pertinent questions to the Board, and the "guys" tried to explain it later.
Ok...back from memory lane
Steer me to the OS, the program, the peripheral, the download, the site....the board..and I'll take it from there and master it.
Give me a data base and I'm in heaven. But create it, webmaster it, graphic it? I'm so LOST!
I leave that to you experts. And happily. |

I only go back as far as having a TRS-80 Model 4 when I was about 14. Most I could do with it was program a character generator for Dungeons and Dragons. Only punch cards I ever used was when we visited Cal Poly Pomona when I was in grade school. I guess this dates me pretty well |

The support board for phpBB is at:
http://www.phpbb.com/
I'm gonna try to keep the development of this board at the level that I have the board that's at www.thetrolls.com featurewise. I had done a lot of crap to that board a long time before this board was created, but now they're at the same level. |

Can you do something about the dreary gray and white color scheme?
All the colors in the world and we are looking at gray and white.

It's also blue, blue is cool!
If you know anyone who wants to take the time to develop a complete color scheme for this thing (instructions are on the phpbb.com forum somewhere), I'll add it as an option.
Added two new features, the mouseover makes it easier to click on a topic or forum. Also, if you're in a topic, mouseover the text and it'll show you the first 200 characters of the last post. Let me know how they work. |

Well, the mouseover thing basically just turns the background of the topic cell a different color so you can click on it rather than having to click on the text. Will help when you've had a lot to drink, people on THE Trolls would never be able to post without it.
The other mouseover thing is if you can hold the mouse on the actual topic and not move it, it'll show the last message, changed it to 400 characters. |

Is the mouseover close enough to Crimson? |

OK....
Malt background (not beige!)
Forest green trim (not emerald)
Crimson highlights (not red)
(Hahaha...or as the house painter says to Myrna Loy in MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE after she gives him deep, intricate descriptions of different colors and shades she positively *must* have, and he keeps going 'yes' 'yes' 'uh huh' 'Hmmm', she leaves and he turns to his assistant and says "Red, green, yellow, blue, black".
And where is this 'topic cell' that the first 400 chatracters of the last post magically appear...and where.
I see nothing. |

I am looking for the exact dialog right now, but this will do if nothing turns up.
From a review-
"My favorite scene is when the painters come and Muriel gives them instructions on what colors she wants the rooms to be. She
painstakingly tells them she wants the kitchen to be white, not
glaring white, or bluish white, but with a sunny glow. She wants the dining room to be yellow, not too light and not too dark, about the color of a fresh pound of butter. She wants the living room to be blue, not too dark, not too light, but the color of the tiny blue dot on the wallpaper in the hallway. She asks him if he has that. He says yes. She leaves and he tells his helper to get him some white, yellow and blue paint!" |
