I'm trying to stay on a diet, all the chocolate I was given at work, NO, I couldn't just say NO Evil or Very Mad

Everytime I listen to Melinda Lee I get hungry, hmmm....I wonder why Razz

She's very nice to listen to, sounds like a very pleasant person. Today's top pick, so far, was her ribs receipe. I consider myself a decent cook, especially baking, like a meringue, I can make a pie with a perfectly formed, huge golden topping, sadly, it's not pie season, and there's the diet. I know Idea ribs! That's nice and slimming! For some reason I don't do well with ribs. Melinda responded to a caller this morning who had the same dilemma, she told her to make a selection first, babyback:the best, but expensive(yeah, I saw those prices, forget it) or just a rack of pork ribs(there you go). She said to brush on your favorite bbq sauce, flat pan, no stacking, cover w/foil, bake@300 degrees for about an hour, a few mins more doesn't hurt, then take it out, just lifting a corner of the foil to vent, and, as my Mom from Okla. would say "Let 'er set!" interpretation: Let it sit at room temp for 45 mins. then it's ready for the grill, brush it with more bbq sauce(I didn't hear how long, but since they're already cooked, guess it's just til they look good) and tada!!! Ribs.

Ok, one of you go make them and tell me if they're good, cause I'm on this stupid diet.....Mmmmm.....now she's discussing how to make really creamy Macaroni and Cheese. It's like I'm in a trance now, that's all I can think of, Ribs w/Macaroni and Cheese.........Mmmmmm........

Hi Cheryl,
Listening to Melinda Lee always does that to me too....that's why I liked it better when she came on AFTER Jeff Levy. I'd usually already eaten. To make things worse, I watch PBS cooking shows at the same time, with the sound down low. It's the only time I can see them, since I don't have cable. America's Test Kitchen is always good. They had macaroni and cheese recipes last week. Italian this week.
Oh, and they did a taste test on abut 8 different brands of bottled barbeque sauce about a month ago. Jack Daniels was the winner. I tried it last week, and it's great. There's no liquor in it, darn...just has that name.

I settled for a piece of pizza I had frozen leftover from Dominos, and some salad.

The recipe that had me salivating from Melinda's show today was the Tri-tip one. I have a little Weber Grill out in my garage, and haven't even used it this season. I should probably drag it out. Ribs sound awfully good, and if they're Beef Ribs they keep Joey busy for hours. Very Happy

(who's making an occupation out of trying to stay cool lately) Confused

One more thing..is it me, but does Melinda Lee sound like she's had dental work or something the past few weeks? Poor Melinda. She's so nice, always.

Food and sex...the less you have, the more you want.

Ribs, huh? That recipe sounds quite easy, even for a non cook like me. And I do believe that I have some gourmet ribs in the freezer. I have never cooked ribs before.

In fact, I have not eaten today and yesterday's portions were sooooo small. (Car at repair shop and little food in house. Liquids low, too.) Arghhhh.....I should have the car back in an hour.

I need some good BBQ sauce, though.

I saw TJoe's had some ribs for sale, but they were damn pricey. All around 15 bucks a slab.

If you want ribs, why not just go to a restaurant where you will get a portion of a certain size and no options for more? Then you don't have to worry about over-ribbing or even cooking on a hellish hot day like today or yesterday when they said the ozone reached unhealthy levels.

I feel drugged.

Give the chocolate away to someone and you need not worry any longer.

I just feel like eating a big pile of meat. I am in the mood for protein. Last 2 days was soup, cole slaw, refried beans, a TJ bbq pizza and whatever other cabinet fillers were around.

Ugh..need vitamins and real oxygen.

Awwwwwww Poor Don. Don't stop on the liquids, you need it in this heat.

I would recommend Jack Daniels BBQ sauce (see my post just above)

Don,
Sorry...Joey is my little "houseslipper" as Cheryl refers to him. my dog.
Smokey Joe (Joey for short)

And I'm not going out in this stagnant air, until the sun goes down. I want to go shopping, but the AC in my car needs some work and I'm cool inside, if I sit here and don't move.

what BBQ guy in Chino? ha ha ha....I've never been to Chino

While in Chino, be sure and visit your friends and family in the prison there. Rolling Eyes Mr. Green

omg..my friends and family? ha ha ha...you must have me confused with someone else. My family is all back East.

You do need Protein...fast! Wink

You have gourmet ribs in your freezer? How were you planning on eating them, if you don't cook?

Isn't Chino where George Putnam lives on his horse farm? He used to speak of that several years back when he was on around 12 Noon on 87.6

OK, BACK!!!!

I miss all the good stuff, food and sex.......I want lots of both!! Oh JUST KIDDING, it's too hot for either, right now anyway.

I did not get the ribs, not yet, maybe later in the week, when it's cooler. I got Taco Salad ingredients, it'll have to do, and Diet Minutemaid Lemonade, you know, that stuff's good. I got a seedless watermelon, that isn't all that great, I never seem to pick the good ones, oh well....it'll be ok cold.

Don! How dare you! "Throw the chocolate out" Twisted Evil GRRRRRRR!!!

Taco Salad sounds good too, Cheryl. I've tried Crystal Light Lemonade, but not Minutemaid. Sounds refreshing.

I'm going to use up some other salad items in my refrigerator and make a Greek Salad. I really like it....stuffed into Pita bread. Feta Cheese, combined with the blend of the salad and my little home-grown cherry tomatoes. Have to make it and let it chill and mix with the oil.

That and a glass of wine will be enough for a hot evening.

Slicing up cantaloupe for dessert. Oh and some cherries. Smile

ha ha ha at "let 'er sit" on the ribs.

I am now back from spending 300 bucks on a demm radiator. Now I can drive in the mind-warping heat and only my brain will boil over.

A few of us random drivers all honked our horns at one doofus who insisted making an illegal left. One dude yelled out at the guy, "F*** you! You ain't so special!". That about summed it up.

Went to TJoe. Talked to my friend there. A celebrity walked by. I knew it was a celebrity cuz two TJ emps showed deference to her. It was.......PAT ST. JOHN!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

All I know about Chino is that there is BBQ and a prison there and some nice farmland.

I was intimating that your people were doing time.

The gourmet ribs would have been one of the last things to be cooked/eaten.

OTOH, I was in Claro's market in Arcadia for my three meatball lunch and they have frozen BBribs for 4 bucks for a big serving, uncooked. Very good markey for italian stuff and pretty great prices on many things including a singing Dean Martin puppet/sculpture that has a turning head and sings two full DM songs. Cool and wierd for 30 bucks.

Dont know nuttin bout no Putnam farm.

Charroll-

I said 'give the chocolate away', not throw it out. You can always get more. Just ditch the temptation while you are dieting.

As always, I recommend Kool Aid for endless and easy summer beverage quaffing. Use Nutrasweet instead of sugar and you can drink all you want calorie free. The Kiwi/Something flavor is great!

OK...I want to get off line.

Yes, I know what you were intimidating...I know there's a Prison in Chino.. Laughing

I wouldn't know Pat St John if I saw her on the street, but yeah I know who she is.

Ouch on the $ 300. Well, at least you won't be over-heating. That 300 buys a lot of coolant.

You may want to consider DSL, or Cable. You can use your PC and your phone all at once. I love mine.

Kool Aid? (maybe if you mix it with some spirits)... Wink

OK, but I can't give the chocolate away, I ate it all, that's the problem. Sees is the best, better than Godiva as far as I'm concerned, I punch a hole in several til I find my favorites, then, when desperate and suffering withdrawls, I go through and eat the less desirable, but available, rejects.

That Greek Salad sounds really good Anne, I'm going to try that.

I actually thought about TJ's earlier, but, that parking lot is treacherous on weekends, I think I'll wait for a weekday since I'm on vacation. Also, that Mud Pie is there, I'd lose contol, I know I would!

Kool aid's good, but I've got a good variety of liquids right now, the diet Lemonade, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi(excellent) and ice tea, from my iced tea maker. The Iced Tea maker is great by the way, nice home made brewed tea, then I add lemon, and lots of ice, the kind from the bag, the little pieces, and 3 pkgs of equal, yes, you read right, 3, I like it sweet. In addition, I have one beer, and Strawberry Margarita Mix that's like a year old, unfortunately, no tequila. That's it Wink[/b]

Crimola-

You seem to know an awful lot about Chino for someone who claims not to have friends and family in prison there. Very suspicious.

Pat St. John is no pin up girl. She could probably take Melinda Lee in a wrestling match, though. Maybe...

ugh...tooo hot to type...later!!

A variety of many beverages equals contentment.

Inside tip - customers are complaining about the new TJoe bottled water.'It doesn't taste very good' is the chatter. I concur.

Ha..I always love how the real sexy babes get extra good service at TJoe. It's always a quiet competition to see who amongst the guys gets the chance to 'help' her out to her car.

Bosomy, short, deep cleavage festival babe today had eyes all over her and then the guy offers to help her out to the car and says, "I'll follow you." Two seconds later all the other guys are shooting looks and laffs at each other. None too subtle in the summer heat.

over and out

Speaking of food - garlic is tasty!

I bought some of those fresh, crushed, frozen cloves of garlic that TJ has and they taste great.
