|
|
Joko sure was raving about them Quiznos sandwiches a few months back, almost as much as he was raving about food in a bag for his nag.
I never had the 'food for a hag' ) BTW - I have nothing against Joko's wife. I am just making cheap jokes.), but those Quiznos sandwiches are double damn good!
Maybe he went back to burgers 24/7.
Anyone who wants great burgewrs should stop over at Cassells, the sensational burger and sandwich place on 6th.
Man, this is one gooooooooood place! I used to go there when I worked in that area years ago,
Casual dining and well worth the trip from most anywhere.

User comments about Cassell's Hamburgers:
"Cassell's was always the favorite of the attorneys' offices
on Wilshire, where it
was known for the best burgers (prime beef), sandwiches,
home-made potato
salad, relish, mayonnaise (how many places make
mayonnaise?), lemonade, and
buffet bar going. Absolutely the BEST!! But parking is
terrible, and the hours make
it tough. But worth it ALL." -- , 06/25/2001

I have been to Cassell's many times and several times I have seen John or John and Ken there.
I am a rather tall and usually (except weekends) well dressed black man. After they saw that I was a regular there and was not carrying a knife, they would nod 'hello' now and then, as would I.
One time, we were sitting next to each other at the small tables there, but at different tables. I had ordered an egg salad sandwich which was exceptionally good that day. When the busboy came by me, I halted him and gave him a ten dollar bill and instructed him to bring me another egg salad sandwich, 'to go'.
John looked at me and said, "That good, huh? But, ten dollars?"
I told him, "five dollars is for the sandwich, the other five is to not wait in line".
There was much laughter amonst us! Ahahah |

Yuk. I don't like Quizno's. I would rather eat at Togo's.
I also don't like Systems Paving, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, teddy bears.com, Dr. Charles Manger, Master Serve plumbing, and striped T Shirts.

Some Quiznos are better than others, for some reason they closed the one in So. Pasadena down, which isn't far from where I work, citing something about the"health dept. inspection" as the reason!
I like Baja Fresh, their salsa's great, plus the food's on the healthier side. |

Quiznos is superior. TOGO's is decent enough. Subway is for schulbs like Jared. |

The S. Pasadena Quiznos is the one I go to. I hadn't noticed they had closed it down. What, like forever? No one gets closed down forever.
They had some pretty crappy service problems there. Twerps talking on the phone when they should have been making sandwiches. One pierced guy so repulsive that I would not order food from him because I did not want him touching it and it was ungodly HOT in there.
I did notice a couple times that they had food sitting on a backcounter that should have been refrigerated and covered and was not. Dumb bastards.
All those problems are the owner/manager's fault for not keeping tabs on the place or just not knowing who to hire.
I went to a McDonald's drive-thru in S. Pasadena (the stupidest McDonalds in the world), ordered some food and the girl who handed me the bag of food had an arm that had been burned and scarred in a fire and she was wearing short sleeves! Jesus Christ! Who the hell put her at a window? Gross me out.
I still have a five dollar free coupon for Baja Fresh. maybe I should go there and try it out. |

Yep, your description matches, it was hot in there, and the employees were real firecrackers! They almost burnt the place down when I was in there last. This is the little hole in the wall on Fair Oaks, next door to a pizza place, don't know if it's your place but it does appear to be closed for good.
Due to the closure, we ended up at Wild Thyme when we last attempted to go, I think in this case, it was for the best. |

Yep..same place and all shuttered down.
I drove by there this evening on the way back from a labor day event was not suiting me.
It's next to Papa John's, the self-overrated pizza place who's cars take up all the parking.
Wild Thyme is good if you feel like Cal-Noveau cusine or a gut stuffing crepe. Mmmmmmmmm. Also, great lemonade, too. 2 dollars buys you all you can drink. And you get to color on the table cloth, too. (a dumb idea). Spotty service, though.
PS - Ever see that fat weirdo in the baseball cap walking around town or hanging out at bus benches? Or how about that dark haired old rummy who walks with a cane and sometimes is shouting at traffic? Or that bizarre woman who is always talking to herself with a book or cloth in front of her face and reeks of B.O.?
South Pasadena's treasures, folks!
PS - Phil Hendrie gasses up at the 76 station there, but be careful what you say at the pumps, cuz they have microphones in them. |

I see the guy who wears the baseball cap quite frequently, the one who yells at cars too, part of the scenery I guess.
Wild Thyme has great Iced Tea too, just on the by and by, they had a "B" rating, well at least I couldn't see whatever it was that caused the down grade.
Don, use the Baja Fresh certificate, it's about the same as all others price wise, maybe slightly higher but well worth it. You'll have to wait a little longer, not too much though, because they do make it fresh. The one in So. Pas is the best that I've been to. I always get the grilled vegetarian burrito, most men I know won't try it cause it sounds too healthy and has no meat, but trust me, it's the best, and it's huge, I always eat half, and take the rest. There's a salsa bar, get the Baja house brand, the dark colored one, it's great! They have really good fajitas too if you gotta have that meat.
They'llanother Quiznos nearby, I'm sure, that's fast food row.
John and Ken can have all the disdain they want, I eat at a variety of places, some they've advertised, most they don't. So what? PF Cheng's is good too, I'm not going to stay away just because they don't talk about it anymore. Let them say what they will, I'll live.
Gotta try those Cassell Burgers. |

I travel around a lot due to my job (yes I do have one - ) and have tried Quizno's several times in several locations - have to stay away from those 0.39 cheeseburgers.
Escondido, Costa Mesa, Van Nuys, Inland Empire locations all had tatted up weirdos behind the counter who were sullen and indifferent. No air conditioning in ANY location. Sandwiches were soggy and lifeless. Toasted bread had burnt plastic odor/taste. Meat slightly slimy.
Bring back the old neighborhood deli anytime!

Hi K,
Interesting that you mention several locations except the ones in your very own city of Irvine. Try the one in The Spectrum on Technology and I believe Alton Pkwy or the one on Sand Canyon and Irvine Center Drive. No tats, good food, good service and working a/c. |

Cheryl,
This person sounds very much like that "Gagged in OC" person from the old board whom I perceived to be quite delusional. I also think she is probably the only one here that J&K need to protect themselves against. She strikes me as the same type of person as that poor woman that thought she was married to David Letterman. And we all know what happened to her. Just ignore her. _________________

Yeah, I remember, the one who directs alot of unkind remarks at John's wife.
I agree, there's no point in responding, I'm sure whoever this is, isn't interested in reasonable conversation anyway. |

Don,
Just read your post, was responding to Confused at the same time. Yes, now it makes sense, does seem to point toward some female characteristics. LOL, Hope it's not like the Glen Close character. |

Yeah, I think your show worked for the insomniacs, I called in just to see what happened to another host, and you answered on the first ring, no screener huh? |

Anyway, follow my instructions in the 'techie' thread and you will be OK until they get the bug ironed out. |
