Kobe was wailing and moaning like a 20s blues singer.
Is it real or is it a bozo show?

It's a maybe, he says/she says. But a not guilty on the verdict because you don't convict on a maybe.

Who Cares?

I personally think that whatever transpired between 2 consenting adults is none of my business. And if it was NOT consenting, and forced by either party, then let the authorities decide in a court of law and make some decision.
I resent the media "circus" and so much air time devoted to it.

I did not feel this way about the O.J. trial...that was about murder, and 2 loss of lives. But this? Rolling Eyes

You're right about the media saturation.

Still, gotta admit, I'm curious about what happened. I may not feel that way, especially if it drags out, which, is likely to be the case.

Oh, I forgot, I cast a maybe, very disappointing, I really thought Kobe was one of the good guys. Even if he didn't "assault" her, he indulges in a 15 minute sexual encounter with this girl? STUPID. I'm on the fence, but, I don't believe anybody would accuse Kobe Bryant of rape just for financial gain, that seems very unlikely. This girl is a college student, she's working at the front desk of a hotel, sees Kobe Bryant, and thinks "alright! a rich athlete, I'll flirt w/him, run up to his room, then after we have sex, I'll run out and cry rape, I can get money!" Uh, no, I don't think so.

I understand the interest in this story. You have a young super-star basketball player, with a very pretty young wife, and 6 mo. old baby girl, he's rich, a multi-million dollar contract with the NBA, numerous endorsements, he has a pristine reputation, doesn't indulge in drugs or alcohol, is devoted to his family, by all reports a good guy, he has it all. Then he goes to a small town in Colorado, stays at an exclusive, luxury suite at a hotel, to await scheduled knee surgery the next day. A few days later, it all comes unraveled, a 19 year old girl, a local, and an employee of the hotel, is visably upset, and is accusing the respected, well liked, superstar of rape. After a few weeks it all starts to unravel, the D.A. files charges, he has to tell his wife, his family, and the public, that he committed adultry. He is now fighting for his family, his career, his reputation. Who is this young girl? What did happen that night?

See, I love a good novel, especially a mystery, this story has all the makings. Most people will deny it, but they want to know every detail, hence the huge ratings these cases garner. Look at how much time the media devotes to this, it is definately over hyped, but they wouldn't give it that much time if people didn't watch it.

In my humble, caffeine stoked opinion, Cheryl, this story is as trite a story as they come. in fact, I think it was a later Joan Crawford film that even her fans didn't like.

There isn't one element of uniqueness in this story. It's all been done before. And the players are dull as dishwater and as predictable as yesterday's news.

I'd rather watch "Double Indemnity" or "Laura" for the 25th time than sit through one more newscast with Bryant's stupid face on it.

Summing up the plot for those born yesterday -
Rich famous married guy with kid screws/rapes hotel maid and loses his job, family and goes to jail.

Wow! That's riveting!

*I'm not ragging on you, Cheryl. But, I'll be a butthead and say your time would be better served reading a really great novel than sitting in front of a TV watching this serialized, trash-by-installment plan pseudo mystery.

And...let me quote the John Huston character in "Chinatown" :

"I don't blame myself. You see, Mr. Gits. Most people never have to face the fact that at the right time, the right place, they're capable of anything."

You're not a butthead, your point is well taken, I love that, "serialized, trash-by-installment plan pseudo mystery<<

If I could avoid the entire story, until it went to print, it would be more riveting.

Ahhh, already, I'm getting sick of it. It's all over the news this morning, all outlets Rolling Eyes I'm ready for the next trashy installment Laughing

You're soooo cute Smile Noone would ever do something like that Smile People will murder for $500, but noone would every concoct a scheme that would send a man to prison for millions (that's probably what the civil judgement would be.)

How about another scenerio, she's sortof a basketball stalker (for NHL Players, we call them Hockey Hoes which sounds cooler). She's realy hot and she goes to Kobe's room where she seduces him (he's a guy, it's not that difficult). Then he has post-coital regret and disses her, pissing her off. Now she wants revenge because her feelings are hurt (hell hath no fury).

Here's how it will play out. Kobe will be found not-guilty and they will settle the civil suit for a million dollars just to make her go away with no admission that he did it.

One thing that we were playing around with whether there should be some mechanism to where the accuser should be charged with perjury. Kobe has stated that she lied, therefore he's accused her of a criminal act. So give the jury 3 different choices, he's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, she's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and not guilty because we can't decide who's lying.

I didn't turn on the news last night because I knew it would be all about Bryant the Boinker and Wild Man Weller, the two buffoons of the week.

Plus, I think Lauren Sanchez was in heat, so they had to keep her off the channel 13 news so she didn't start humping Rick Garcia on screen. Her stream of sexual inneuendo lately has been unmatched by any newscaster in television history. Not to mention her breasts. Watching her bend over to imitate a Hooters waitress serving drinks was pure frolic.

"Stoked", actually.

I stupidly consumed 8 cups of strong coffee as I used my Gevalia coffee maker for the first time. It hit me like a ton of bricks and lasted most of the night. Every little noise was making me jump.

It seems to have worn off now.

Time for more coffee. Irish cream! with Milk and Equal. Mmmmmmm. COLD!!!

Shocked Don...geez
re: Lauren Sanchez

I didn't watch any of that news after a few minutes of that "Breaking News" at 2:00 PM (what a performance)
It's being crammed down our throats, and as I've said earlier...I don't care.
What I did listen to was parts of George Noory..and omg at his guest. A Priest with some definite ideas on things and messages to mankind. As if that wasn't enough, the next hour waslines and assorted callers retold their creepy ghost stories. I swear, it gave me chills and I had a hard time going to sleep. (I should have left that AC on !) And I don't scare easily.
It was all thought provoking.....and better than hearing the Kobe deluge of unwanted information.
Hearing Bill Handel this morning was of course, a refreshing joy. I love the way he speaks to the elderly ladies, calls them sweety and speaks about their breasts and age. (Don you may have gotten a kick out of that)
Wink

Wow, You have a Gevalia coffee maker? Nice!

I love their Cinnamon flavored coffee. One of the girls that worked for me ordered from them a lot, and gave me some for Christmas. Thanks for reminding me, I still have some in the freezer.

ha ha ha...you may as well have listened to Coast to Coast all night too.

Lauren Sanchez - she's seeing Rick Garcia IRL and her comments are very leading and revealing. Most recent one was about having the option of keeping her clothes on (this in regards to some story).

I don't care for Bill Handel. He always sounds like he has food in his mouth and I have little sense of sincerity when he 'talks nice'.

Gevalia is offering their new 12 cup coffee machine and a pound of coffee for ten dollars total. You join their coffee club and quit whenever you want, even after the initial shipment of the machine and coffee, if you are so inclined. Contact me off line and I will give you the code number for the deal. Totally has their approval to do so.

Buy chili!!!

Kobylt almost lost it (haha) with the women and her lubrication ohone call. (he asked if they had caller ID at KFI after she hung up.)

The, all these subconcious terms he began using about 'a juicy story' and 'leaks'. Will he come up with more or has this 'dampened' his enthusiasm?

John has taken several calls today from women where he has almost been rendered speechless! Poor guy....
They are revealing way too much information about sexual details, and first you hear silence, then John replying, "Well thank you for that information."

I missed alot of the show today, but did hear some of those calls Shocked

I didn't hear about the lubricants, but did hear a woman who said Kobe's accuser, being presumably white, was not "prepared" to accomidate a black man, she said black men "have bigger genitals, and the girl couldn't handle it. I heard John ask if she was black, she answered affirmatively. He said something like, well I guess you have vast knowledge in this area, Very Happy .

Sorry I missed most of it.

Chili! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Bryant is a liar.

I heard his 'famous' press conference on the radio and it sounded fake. Now that I have seen it, it is the worst piece of acting to come down the pike in a long time.

Bryant's phoney sighs and hesitations and expressions are totally rank thespianism. Who coud possibler be fooled by that?

SIDEBAR - That chick reporter from Fox news sucked! Purely a rumor monger and Kobylt began repeating her speculative garbage as soon as it came out of her mouth. And whoever the news woman on KFI was even mocked her later when her sound clip used the word, "apparently" 3 or more times, so the KFI news woman said, 'Well, apparently, as you just heard,,,'.

Also, Jill Stewart was on a few days ago.

Finally, for now, there is so much clamour for information re this stud-dud and the local girl, that the news sources are putting out totally unconfirmed and imprecise information.

If Kate Hutton, the earthquake lady from Caltech, put out shoddy and unsubstantiated rumors like this after a major earthquake, people would be runnning around in the streets screaming that the world was coming to an end.

Hello gang!

I am back! Just got REALLY fat on a 7 day cruise to Alaska. Missed over a week and a half of the show! (withdrawal symptoms)

Anything noteworthy other than Kobe's gold-digger problems? I hope they don't make the "hour of Kobe" - even after 8 years I am still sick of OJ and never want to hear about it again.

(my apologies to the O.J. Juror in our midst!)

A.

Hi Mr KABC Very Happy

Welcome back! Did you stop in Ketchikan? I've been there 3 times, but not via the Inside Passage on a Cruise Ship. I flew. (friend lived up there)

ha ha ha about the Wild-eyed leftist Surprised

I was disappointed in the whole show being devoted to Kobe too Rolling Eyes
Not much else happening, other than the Santa Monica Farmers Market plow down, and a lot of heat and freakin humidity here. ugh

I'd much rather hear a show on one of thse 2 items:

http://www.latimes.com/features/printedition/magazine/la-tm-immigration29jul20.story

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-wheelchairs20jul20,1,1091250.story?coll=la-home-headlines

Kobe and w/e her name is (katelyn) bored me the very first day.

So where are the nude photos of the Colorado chick and of Bryant's wife.

Maybe that's what he doesn't want people to see.

Sex is the only thing that is going to get this story going.

People have been posting what are supposedly pictures of the girl on www.thetrolls.com. I had to tell people not to post supposed nude pictures of her (even if hey really didn't think it was her) because that would kindof violate child porn laws.
